Introduction
Honestly, I find that application descriptions are never completely realistic. Of course, I, as the developer, am going to sensationalize it a bit.
- "Quickly pops you to saving time." - reports Witty Magazine Weekly
- "Simply Incredible!!" - says Me
- "Saves lives." - Said regarding seat belts (though I'm sure they meant QuickPop too)
...And so forth.
What is QuickPop?
QuickPop is a small free windows application that was designed simply to "remember" clipboard history. "Come on, why would I need something like that?", you might ask.
If you are at least somewhat savvy at this thing.. this computer, then you probably find yourself using the clipboard quite often. Easy enough right? Copy, paste, cut, paste.. BUT WAIT! That first "copy" just vanished into oblivion. As I'm sure you've found, windows does not keep a history of previous clipboard entries. That is an issue that QuickPop takes aim at solving.
By utilizing advanced algorithms, fractal geometry, and a bit of nuclear physics, QuickPop can store copied text entries as easily as it can retrieve them. This is done without the excess garbage and lack of usability that you find with similar applications (the one bundled with MS Word comes to mind). YOU define how long the history should be. YOU define the keyboard shortcuts. Easy said, easy done.
Best thing about it? FREE! All I want is to see people use it and be happy. Aren't I great? Yes, yes I know. If you like it, Oustanding! If not, that's cool too - just shoot me a message with how I can make it better.
So that's it? Just a Clipboard History Tracker thing??
If you must know, no. You see, the "Clipboard History Tracker thing" as you so delicately put it (QuickPop) quietly sits in your system tray. Left click it (or define a hotkey) to show your clipboard history. That leaves the right click available for program shortcuts. I know, I know - the Quick Launch area can do that. But, believe me, it's nice when you have everything set with a keyboard shortcut. Plus I threw in a few utilities that can help or be useless, up to you. Details below.
A Little History
One thing to make clear is QuickPop is not that application for the MAC developed around 1996. That application was pointed out to me long after this utility was developed, thus the name stays. Mine's better anyway.
This was developed as a side-project a couple of years ago and soon became a necessity for me. Once it was completed, I found myself becoming frustrated on other computers without QuickPop. From how others have described it, at first they had to remind themselves it was there. But after they created shortcuts and used it for a week, it became second-nature.
